COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
For more than 186 years, the Institution for Savings has played an integral role in supporting communities we serve…with our time, our talents, and our checkbooks.
First, we give of our time. Our management staff, our employees, and our trustees participate in more than 50 community organizations and events annually on their own time. Whether it's sitting on not-for profit and municipal boards and commissions like the Firehouse Center for the Arts, raising funds for needy causes such as the Jeanne Crisis Center, coaching youth sports, volunteering in our schools, or more, our employees give thousands of hours of their time and talents in ways that truly strengthen and enhance our communities.
The Institution for Savings also supports our communities with our check book. In the past years years, the Institution for Savings Charitable Foundation has donated more than $1 million to such worthy organizations and initiatives as the victims of the Woodman Way fire earlier this year, the Greater Newburyport YWCA, Pettingell House, Turning Point, the Newburyport Public Schools, Opportunity Works, and more. Additionally, the bank is a regular patron of major events within our communities. Earlier this year, we were proud to be the lead sponsor of two wonderful events: the 1st Annual Newburyport Literary Festival attended by thousands, and the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center Walk Against Violence which raised over $100,000 to combat this troubling epidemic. Other events that the bank is playing a major sponsorship role in this year include the Newburyport Art Association Auction; the Historical Society of Old Newbury's Garden Tour; Outdoor Sculpture at Maudslay; Family Day at Maudslay during Yankee Homecoming; the 2nd Annual Newburyport Triathlon; and more.
