Mobile Payments

Mobile payment is the ability to pay for items using your mobile phone and your debit or credit card which has been stored digitally in your ‘mobile wallet’ on your device. Instead of using your actual card to make purchases, you can pay with your smartphone, tablet, or smartwatch wherever mobile payments are accepted.

Safe and Secure.

Mobile payments are more secure than using a traditional card. Instead of using your actual debit card number, mobile wallets assign, encrypt and store a unique device account number on a dedicated chip on your device. When you make a purchase, that device account number is used to process your payment. Your actual debit card number is never shared with merchants or transmitted with payment, helping reduce the potential for fraud.

The Institution for Savings offers three different mobile payment options: Android Pay, Apple Pay and Samsung Pay.

Android Pay™

How to Set Up Android Pay

  1. Android Pay is preloaded on some Android phones. Other eligible phones can get Android Pay by downloading it from the Google Play Store. If you cannot find the Android Pay app on the Google Play store, it is because your device is not compatible with Android Pay (Only users that have KitKat+ devices with NFC and HCE can download Android Pay.)
  2. In the Android Pay app on your device, touch the + sign to add a credit or debit card to pay with your device.
  3. Position your card in the camera frame to automatically enter your card information. Enter the security code found on your card and provide additional information as required.
  4. Accept the terms of service and set your screen lock. (Activating Device Administrator is part of the Android Pay setup process.)
  5. As a security measure, you will receive a “verification required” message when adding your card to Samsung Pay and need to call our Deposit Services department at 978-462-3106 to verify. Once verified, an on-screen message will appear stating that the card is ready for use. This verification is part of our multi-layered approach to security in payments.
  6. If you’ve already added other cards to Android Pay, set your Institution for Savings card as your default. You can do this in Google Settings or by clicking your Institution for Savings card within the Android Pay app.
